Reaching across the clammy world
to remember your face at night
the cities we've stepped on
frenzied with drink
and the sounds of love
drumming through our hips
the newspaper article
about the president of France
a 30 year affair cracked
like a cannon through Paris
to claim her own they said
but the truth was
she could not forget him
the greatness of him
the prodigious happenings
of their quiet voices, sleep far
when time is lucid
neither will I
forget
five years four words
reaching across the clammy world
to remember your face at night
